This was another of my DIY projects (literally a labor of love) for my own wedding. Given our one of a kind venue, I wanted completely custom stationery and signage to set the mood for our guests. The wedding was held at Cliff Bells, an art deco jazz club and historic, beloved Detroit gem. The stationery suite included Save the Date postcards, invites and RSVP cards, escort cards, programs, cocktail lists, party favor tags, and "about this toast" cards for each place setting. And of course, the website.
- As visual designer and bride, I considered the unique historical and sentimental attributes of our venue, the significance of two lives coming together, our aesthetic preferences, and our personalities.
- I created a design system that is colorful, playful, classic, and rich with shapes and textures, from the patterns in the design to the feel of the linen paper stock.
- Paper placemats that I had purchased years prior were actually my initial inspiration. They paired teal and magenta with soft vintage illustrations of flowers and birds. I later incorporated both the actual placemats at the place settings, and the pattern into the invites.
